My Spiritual Path
Yes, the path I have followed is a winding one. I have always believed in something bigger than myself. I knew I was not a Christian however, because I believed in too many things that the Christians frowned upon... such as reincarnation, animals have souls, spirits and ghosts, psychic phenomenon, UFO's.... bigfoot.... But I knew I was lacking something, I needed some kind of direction.
I then, through a dear friend, found the path of Eckankar. A basically new age religion that claimed to have old roots. I didn't agree with all of the Eckankar philosophies, but I did learn much from it. I learned many spiritual "tools" such as meditation and contemplation techniques, and I learned how to become more connected with spirit. It helped me to open my spiritual eye.
After ten years of this route, I began again to quest. My needs were not being met. Where was the feminine in the hierarchy of "Eck Masters"? I began to do some research on the history of Goddess worship, and did a few searches on the internet and then I discovered the Charge of the Goddess and I knew I was home.
I found such freedom here upon this path, it winds and branches and leads through both mountainous heights and dark, mysterious swamps. What I love best is that there is never any end to the learning. There are many, many variations of the Craft out there. I have explored Celtic, Faery, Green, Dianic and read some Gardnerian and Alexandrian. The learning never ends. All in all, I simply call myself a Witch, and hope that someday I can actually live up to the title.
